Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King Face World No. 1 Pair at French Open
Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King face a major test at the French Open 2026 after booking their place in the men’s doubles second round. The Malaysians will take on South Korea’s top-seeded pair Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae as they aim to continue their run in Paris on 22 October.
The match offers a tough challenge against one of the strongest combinations in men’s doubles. For the Malaysian pair, it is an opportunity to test their level against the leading partnership on the world stage.
Malaysians Recover to Win Their Opening Match
Aaron and Roy King began their French Open campaign with a three-game victory over Chen Zhi Yi and Presley Smith of the United States. They took the first game 21-18 but lost the second 18-21 before responding well to win the decider 21-12.
The result showed their ability to regroup after losing a game and regain control when the match was on the line. That resilience will be important against opponents who can maintain pressure through fast exchanges and sharp attacking play.
A Big Test Against Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae
Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae enter the match as the top seeds, making this a demanding assignment for the Malaysians. The Korean pair are known for their quick transitions between defence and attack, so Aaron and Roy King will need to be alert from the opening rallies.
Winning the service and return exchanges could be especially important. Against an experienced pair, loose returns and short lifts can quickly give the opposition the chance to take control of a rally.
What a Win Would Mean for Malaysia
Progress against the top seeds would be a significant result for Aaron and Roy King and would strengthen Malaysia’s presence in the men’s doubles draw. Even so, the match begins with both pairs on level terms, and performance on court will decide the outcome.
Malaysian fans will be watching to see whether the pair can build on their opening-round win and produce another composed performance in Paris.
