Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King Exit Hylo Open 2026 Semi-Finals After Danish Defeat

Malaysia’s Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King have been eliminated from the Hylo Open 2026 after suffering a hard-fought three-game defeat in the men’s doubles semi-finals in Saarbrucken, Germany, on Saturday (October 31).

The Malaysian men’s doubles pair pushed Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjaer-Rasmus Kjaer to the limit but eventually lost 21-18, 15-21, 18-21 in a 59-minute encounter at the Saarlandhalle.

Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King Fall Short Against Danish Pair

World No. 74 Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King produced a competitive performance against the Danish world No. 26 combination. The Malaysians started positively, taking the opening game 21-18 to put pressure on their higher-ranked opponents.

However, Christian Faust Kjaer and Rasmus Kjaer responded strongly in the second game, winning 21-15 to force a deciding game.

The third game remained closely contested, but the Danish pair maintained their advantage at the crucial moments to secure a 21-18 victory and book their place in the Hylo Open 2026 men’s doubles final.

The result ended Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King’s impressive run at the German badminton tournament, while the Danish duo advanced to face England’s second seeds Ben Lane-Sean Vendy in Sunday’s final.

Malaysia Miss Out on Second Hylo Open Final

Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King were not the only Malaysian representatives to suffer semi-final disappointment at the Hylo Open 2026.

National mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing also bowed out after losing 20-22, 21-16, 17-21 to France’s reigning world champions Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue in a thrilling 70-minute match.

The defeat prevented Pang Ron and Pei Jing from reaching another consecutive final following their runner-up finish at the French Open the previous week.

France’s Gicquel-Delrue will now meet Denmark’s Jesper Toft-Amalie Cecilie Kudsk in the mixed doubles final.

Malaysia’s European Badminton Campaign Comes to an End

The semi-final exits marked the end of Malaysia’s challenge at the Hylo Open 2026, bringing the country’s European badminton campaign to a close after two successful tournaments.

Malaysia had previously celebrated two major doubles achievements during the European swing. Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah captured the women’s doubles title at the Denmark Open, while Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun claimed the men’s doubles championship at the French Open.

Although Aaron Tai-Yap Roy King and Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing missed out on the Hylo Open finals, their performances provided valuable experience against some of the world’s leading international combinations.

For Malaysian badminton fans, attention will now turn to the upcoming international tournaments as the country’s players continue their efforts to compete for more titles on the BWF World Tour.
